In English class, we have been talking a lot about voice and how we can incorporate it into our writing. I truly believe that voice is a very important component in your writing it can make your writing very meaningful and powerful. Writers voice is your expression, perspective, dreams, and beliefs on topics.

Animal Farm
(Above is a poem from animal farm ,that the animals wrote about humans because they treated them so poorly)
The animals of Manor Farm have always been sorrowful under the care Mr. Jones and his men. The animals have come to accept their difficult lives as part of they way things should go . It is Old Major, a boar, who shares his dreams with the other animals. He tells them that the cause of all their suffering is because of the humans . With the humans gone, the animals would enjoy the amount of stuff the land provides and build a new society. He says that Jones has no concern for the animals, that he uses them until they are no longer effective. He slaughters the pigs and drowns the dogs when they get old. Old Major predicts that Jones will even sell Boxer, the horse, and the hardest worker on the farm, to the slaughterhouse once he is no longer able to work. Boxer encourages the animals to work for this revolution. He warns them never to become like man and to always treat each other as equals. Boxer does end up getting sent to slaughter house and the animals are even more pumped up for the revelution that they are planning. Three night later old major dies and the task of preparing for the revolution is left to the pigs (the most intelligent animals on the farm.) One day Mr. Jones forgot to feed the animals and thats when the animals attack Mr Jones and drag him off of the farm. The animals have been successful with this and are filled with joy. Overtime, the pigs make something called the 7 commands and it says animals should do the complete opposite of what humans do and that all animals should be equal. After a while the pigs have started to get a little bit too controlling. For example, the pigs change the seven commandments
Do you predict that the pigs will take over the farm and run it like Mr Jones?

Fahrenheit 451
"Will you turn the tv parlor off? No, they're my family." (Bradbury, page 120)
I am currently reading the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The book is set in a dystopian future, where books are banned. The main character Guy Montag ( a fire fighter who burns books) thinks his life is great and he has all the the knowledge in the world.
He starts questioning society, and everything he has ever known when he comes across this girl named Clarisse. Clarisse, is 16- years-old and is a very curious girl. She questions everything about society, she is very eager to learn, and wants to know why things are the way they are now. She makes Montag see the world from a completely different view point. Montag gets an alarm that an old lady has a stash of hidden literature, the women shock him by saying that she wants to be burned with her books. Montag takes some of the books from the lady and hides them along with many other books that he has stole from his other fires. A few days later, Montag has just heard some very tragic news that Clarisse has been killed by a speeding car. Montag's dissatisfaction with his life increases and he begins to look for a solution in all the books he has been hiding. Montag's fire chief, Beatty is noticing that Montag hasn't been him self lately after they burned the old lady along with her books and the fact that Clarisse was killed. Beatty finds out that Montag is questioning what books have to offer, and explains that every firefighter goes through the same phase that Montag is going through. Beatty explains to Montag why books were banned in the first place; A special interest group and other minorities objected that books were offending them. All writers tried to avoid offending somebody, all books looked the same, and then society as a whole just decided to burn books so they wouldn't create conflicting opinions.
I am scared for our society in the future, this books message had grown more relevant that ever before. People don't want to actually learn anything or do work anymore, they just want the shortened version of it and an answer. If we don't stop and think about what we are doing to our society it will just end up like a dystopia. We need books, books are very important. Not only do they increase your vocabulary and give you the ability to come up with things to write, they show you how other people's perspectives of the world and different topics are. It may offend you but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyones voice should be heard.
Do you think our society today is going to become like the society in Fahrenheit 451?
The Compound
For English class I am currently reading The Compound by S.A Bodeen. She is the same author who wrote the raft. I chose to read a book by the same author because, I Though her writing was so powerful , exciting, and extremely organized.
The compound is about a boy named Eli Yanakakis son of a billionaire -Rex Yanakaki. Eli's father had already seen the possibility that they might be getting involved in a nuclear war. So he takes matters into his own hands, and starts to build "The Compound." The compound, is a fallout shelter except it's 6 feet underground. Eli's father predictions were correct and there was a nuclear war. They have to learn to adjust to their new life. They adjusted but none of them are happy with it. For Eli no matter how luxurious the compound is it can't make up for the dull routine of the doing the same thing day after day. Put your self in Eli's shoes, if you were in the same situation as him what would you do?
As problems
with their carefully planned existence threaten to destroy their sanctuary, Eli can't help but wonder if he'd rather take his chances outside. Eli's father built the Compound to keep them safe. But will they be safe or sorry?

Im going to share one of my favorite lines from the book with you guys, to show all of you what an amazing writer S.A Bodeen is. "Maybe I could find out what was going on outside of these walls. If dad had kept that information from me, chances are he was keeping some other secrets from me as well. And I intended to find out what all those secrets are." S.A. Bodeens writing is also very mysterious and she puts a message/ a meaning behind her writing.
I am almost done with this book and I really enjoyed reading it. This is a book I would recommend to any one who loves action, sci-fi, drama, and mystery. Below I listed a book trailer if anyone is interested in checking it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIqfps2DgVA

Cinder
I am currently reading Cinder by Marrisa Meyer. The book sounds like it would be a modern interpretation of Cinderella, this is not the case. The book takes the story and changes it to a whole new world in everything, characters, plots, themes, anything you can think of. One reason why i am enjoying reading this so much is because it adressess some personal issues that everyone has probably expireneced in their life or will expierence. The story takes place in new beijing, The main character cinder is a gifted mechanic whose work is highly respected, but not her. The people of New beijing are predujiced against cyborgs(people who have been in an accident or had a disease, their body parts are replaced with mechanical ones)"its not like wires are contagious says cinder. Cinder, is very sloppy and is always trying to put her body pieces back together. "tossing the screwdriver onto the table cinder gripped her heel and yanked the foot from it's socket." My favorite character is definelty cinder, i can relate to her becuase she is a shy, and a little clumsy Overall, I am enjoying this book I can really take away lessons from the message that the author is trying to get across.
One last thing if you're interested in reading the book t heres a book trailer you might want to check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v
